Stuart Armitage BEng MSc
Associate

Stuart Armitage has been Structural Engineer with the Practice for almost 20 years, and contributes a sound understanding and practical aptitude for engineering and technical problem solving. In particular, Stuart was the Project Engineer for the conservation work to the iconic Iron Bridge, completed in 2019, and is the Project Engineer for works through to 2020 at Nottingham Castle for all aspects, including the new Visitor Centre, Gallery and repairs to the Palace and other areas of the historic site.

Stuart’s other keen interest has been working on churches nationwide, with input to over 150 individual sites. Many of these churches being of great historic significance and interest. Works in other conservation sectors include concrete repairs, timber frame repairs and iron work repairs. Notably, and a personal achievement of Stuart’s has been the repair and refurbishment undertaken to the Vauxhall Railway Bridge in Great Yarmouth, where The Morton Partnership acted as the Contractor as well as Engineer, with Stuart leading the input.

Mary Claxton CEng MICE MIStructE
Associate

Joining The Morton Partnership in 2002 Mary has gained experience across a wide range of project sectors. Working as lead engineer on a number of government building projects including phased works at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and The Palace of Westminster.

Mary also leads a team of engineers and detailers on multi million pound commercial refurbishments and mixed use developments.

Abbas Contractor
Associate

Abbas Contractor a senior Structural Engineer with extensive experience across many sectors in the UK. Working with The Morton Partnership for 40 years, Abbas has a team of engineers working on many refurbishments and new builds ranging in value.

His vast portfolio includes working on many listed buildings, including churches and timber framed structures along with many others. Abbas’ clients include Wadhurst Estates & The National Trust to name a few.

Ian Welsh
Associate

Ian Welsh is a Structural Engineering Technician with nearly 40 years experience in all structural mediums. He has been with The Morton Partnership since 1993 and has overseen the development of our drafting standards from drawing board to Autocad to Revit.

His experience and knowledge guides our engineers from scheme design to construction. Ian was responsible for the concept design of the Jubilee Bridge in Oxford, winning an award from the Oxford Preservation Trust in 2015.
