Auckland Castle is to re-open its doors after a £12.4m refurbishment project
We have been involved in the project since 2013 and are delighted to finally see it open to the public once again. Auckland Castle was the home to the once powerful Prince Bishops of Durham who ruled the North of England for 750 years.
The development included the general repair and refurbishment and also the installation of a number of new access lifts, the insertion of one revealed a valuable Tudor timber servery. The building services were also fully replaced and upgraded which involved the careful integration of plant within the structure.
