Museum of Docklands
We were originally appointed as Lead Consultant to advise on the repair and re-roofing of the Grade I Listed warehouses on West India Quay. After these repairs were completed, 3 blocks were selected to house the Museum of Docklands. We acted as Structural Engineer within the design team.
The conversion of the warehouses required extensive alterations, including stairs, lifts and ramps providing ‘Access for All’.
A key feature of the museum was the original exposed internal timber structure. We arranged for fire testing of the original timber to dictate the fire strategy.
Our involvement with this building continues, providing advice on floor loading for particular displays and events.
